Welcome to Cani-Care
I am an avid animal lover, having kept many animals as a child, some of which include dogs, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and a tortoise named George. This passion for animals led to my adult career.
My first job was with my Uncle at his aquatic shop when I was just 13 years old, I enjoyed looking after and learning about the different species of fish the shop stocked. My Uncle expanded the shop to incorporate exotic animals such as tortoises, lizards and snakes.
From here my interest in exotics grew, I studied veterinary nursing whilst at college with a special interest in exotic animal care and nursing, I also gained a National Diploma in Animal Management. During this time I was lucky enough to gain employment at a local veterinary practice as a receptionist, here I was also involved with nursing where I was able to practice and improve upon my nursing skills gained at college.
After finishing my college studies, I took a year out before starting university. During this year I opened my home to rescued and sick exotic animals consisting of snakes, lizards, tortoises, amphibious species and various arachnid species.
In 2007 I enrolled at the University of Reading where I studied for my Animal Science degree, whilst continuing to work for the same veterinary practice I had started at whilst at college.
I graduated in 2010, upon graduation I entered into full time employment working as a veterinary nurse for a pet insurance company.
